Deciphering the “this universe is a simulation” idea.
As a young boy, I made my parents allergic to the tech jargon of yesteryear. Their survival instincts got triggered when they heard me talking about the Motorola 6800, the Intel 286 or even the colourful Epyx joystick. Isn’t it amazing to see how language supports the creation of sub-worlds(*)?
It continues when a group transforms their sub-worlds into belief systems and after into religions. Those beliefs can be useful to find differences among groups.
We create these sub-worlds within an individual’s mind and collectively as social or cultural agreements. How many people lived and died because of their beliefs? Aren’t wars consequences of belief systems?
Is it possible that what I call reality is my partial interpretation of the world, limited by my experience and culture?
It is obvious to me, that our perception of the universe is a partial understanding that exists in our individual and collective minds. It is a man made reality that gets more and more complex as we learn more about it.
What happens when you acknowledge that all human made belief systems are based on fallible and incomplete interpretations of reality? Freedom! You are not in the simulation, you run it.

(*) I realise the “sub-worlds” wording might seem weird, but that’s allright :)
